I read a lot and I read everything. I can tell you the the one reason that makes the smartest people tick and why the underdog technology company always wins. It’s the same reason I find missing from so many conversations here in Pakistan. It’s the inspiration. Well, the inspiration and the passion. Technology is all about making ideas come to life. Creating enabling environments so that businesses can boom, people can benefit and everything that is supposed to work, works.
We make an environment what it is supposed to be. We are highly accountable for the decisions we make – for the hardware we buy, for the ERP we select, for the company we hire to engage in the the deployment and integration and for the media we use to increase the level of awareness that our customers have so the services that are being implemented are actually going to be used. CIO’s must have the necessary convincing power and faith in their decisions so that the benefits can trickle down to everyone the technology was supposed to benefit.
Everyone gets effected in an economic crisis. But if strong strategies are in place, then the efficiency of business shouldn’t deteriorate. It’s a technology solution, not a technological nightmare that our CIO’s should be dealing with. It’s the people who have the solutions that we want to continue to highlight. And there are a lot of those around us.
The CIO can head the business, lead the team and support the ecosystem. The environments might not be ideal, but then the Chief Information Officer needs to convince the company to make the change. Inspire the change for the better.
It’s the end of the year and a tough time at that. Share your experience and more importantly, your feedback on where we’re headed with CIO Pakistan. The more we hear back from you, the better aligned our content will be with your needs.

Eid Mubarak and Merry Christmas!
