The venue was the Ritz Carlton in Beijing, China; and the event was HP’s Touch the Future Now, and I am here, right in the thick of things! Media from a number of Asia Pacific and South Asian countries descended to cover the event, and the mood remained that of excited anticipation. With the additional scare of the swine flu in China, most visitors kept trying to keep themselves cool so as to not be red flagged by the medical temperature checking team because of the high temperatures!

The first day of the event showcased HP’s new products and innovation line up, something the HP team remained confident and excited! The day began with the keynote address See Chin Teik, the SVP for HP Asia Pacific & Japan; who summarized the global trends that HP is looking at in terms of its product line up direction. Following him were Dennis Mark and Chuaa Hwee Koon, VPs of HP’s Mobile Business Unit and the Desktop Systems Unit, who showcased HP’s products and innovations line up for the event. The line up included an All in One PC, a Touch Screen Desktop, a Mini Notebook, a Collaborative Application called Sky Room, and some very interesting innovations for businesses such as Quick Look. Details on all of these will be forthcoming.

Stacy Wolf and Randall Martin then took the visitors into the background of the origins of the designs behind the new notebook and desktop systems lineup. Ajay Mohan looking after Marketing Partnerships for HP, followed up by giving the media a briefing on some exciting features and initiatives through which HP is looking to help the society and to go green! Again, stay tuned to this website for up coming details!

In the days to follow, we’ll gave you comprehensive overview on all of HP’s new designs, initiatives innovations and products through on demand videos on CIO Webstudio, and write-ups on CIO Pakistan! Stay tuned!
