P@ShA ICT Awards 2009 – The Magic of Technological Innovation in Pakistan
Pakistan Software Houses Association for IT & ITES (P@SHA) celebrates it’s 6th Annual Awards
[August 14 ’09: Karachi, Pakistan] The Pakistan Software Houses Association for IT & ITES (P@SHA) held its 6th Annual ICT Awards at the Sheraton Hotel in Karachi at gala evening comprising technologists, entrepreneurs, executives from the corporate sector and government representatives. The event highlighted the Magic of Technological Innovation in Pakistan and recognized the country’s best software and services available for the domestic and export markets.
The P@SHA ICT Awards 2009 has brought together participants from across the industry to experience the promising and prolific work that has been done by Pakistani technologists – work that is gaining them accolades across the world. Categories include the Best Research & Development, Communication, e-Logistics, Service Innovation, Security Applications, E-Government Applications and E-Inclusion & E-Community. Awards that recognize excellence in leadership were also introduced this year such as the Best CIO in the Private and Public Sector organizations.
“Winners from the awards will have the opportunity to represent Pakistan at the APICTA Awards which take place in Australia this year. Pakistan has performed very well in last year’s international competition, having come back with 3 out of 16 awards given out at APICTA, and we have high hopes for our companies this year as well,” said Jehan Ara, President of P@SHA. She went on to say, “The recession has made this past year relatively tough for a lot of organizations and Pakistani companies have proved their worth by not only growing their operations, but also helping organisations in the business sector to remain profitable and efficient through the use of technology and the streamlining of business processes.”
The day-long celebration of the Awards includes the P@SHA Tech Crunch Gong Awards and the Demo Pit which showcased around 20 innovative 5 minute concepts and pitches by individuals and companies of products and services that they have launched or are in the process of creating. Both the events are a celebration of tech innovation and an opportunity to network with potential buyers. 65 technology solutions competed for the coveter awards in 20 different categories.
The gala evening of 400+ people gave a sense of the true magic of technological innovation in Pakistan. Referred to as the ‘industry event of the year’ the P@SHA ICT Awards 2009 was organized by P@SHA, produced by the CIO Custom Solutions Group and supported by Infotech, Microsoft, National ICT RnD Fund, Intel, Sybrid, PSEB, Sofizar, TPS, Oracle, CDC, IBM and Google.
