To a Pakistani, the phrase “going green” holds a great deal of significance. In line with efficiency, productivity and burning clean energy, there is a tremendous patriotic significance that comes into play with the color green. Technology, no doubt, has a critical role to play, which is why we associate the color green with that of success and prosperity.
This issue of CIO Pakistan marks our ascent onto the first step in our business lifecycle, having had the privilege to bring so many fantastic stories to life across IDG’s mammoth network. We took it the month of August to also change the look of CIO, aligning it to be closer to the international edition. I think Pakistan has certainly responded well to the CIO brand and has helped us to climb atop a solid platform and share our industry successes with the rest of the world. In this issue we’ve decided to showcase a lot more opinions from thought-leaders than we usually run with. There are great stories coming out from under every stone we stumble on, and well, we thought we’d dedicate the issue to some of those great business-technology understanding.
Our CIO this issue is the Chief Information Officer of Habib Bank Limited, Tulu Islam, who gives us some insight into managing the IT operations of one of Pakistan’s largest financial institutions. We got a quick chat with the new Payment Gateway System that is making its way into Pakistan and have featured some very interesting stats about the BPO industry thanks to an analyst that made his way to Pakistan all the way from McKinsey Dubai. Omer Malik of Carbon Services talks to us about going Green, a new section we’re hoping to continue on starting this issue.
We’re celebrating our first birthday later this month in August and well, hope to have the chance to interact with some of you before the sighting of the Ramadan moon. Once again, on behalf of my team and everyone at IDG, thank you. Thank you for the dynamism in Pakistan’s Business-Technology industry where everyone is so open about sharing their ideas with us.
Wish you a safe, green Ramadan!
Until the next issue,
