CIO Year Ahead ’10 Summit: A State of Readiness – The Road to 2011
December 15, 2009: Karachi, Pakistan – CIO Pakistan organized The Year Ahead ’10 Summit at the Karachi Sheraton offering thought leaders and senior professionals of the ICT industry an opportunity to interact with Global Information Technology report at the World Economic Forum. The report assesses the Network Readiness of countries and helps to put Pakistan’s position on the global map into perspective.
The session engaged the report’s editorial team in an effort to establish a formal engagement process with the local community and stakeholders so a more direct information gathering approach could be taken. Irene Mia, Co-Editor and Senior Economist shared the report’s findings and comparative analysis to strategic countries that Pakistan is traditionally compared to. In addition to Ms. Mia, other members joining the session included, Thierry Geiger, Economist Global Leadership Fellow and Christoph S. Sprung, Senior Manager India & South Asia.
According to Ashar Zaidi, Country Manager Intel Pakistan, “The report is of considerable importance to documenting growth and progress in the country based on a number of indicators. This discussion was important to have highlighted the methodology the World Economic Forum follows to gather information for the report and also was critical in identifying a communication roadmap that the local industry should follow with such external authorities.”
Asif Shah, CIO of Central Depository Company (CDC) said, “This provides technology buyers and implementers a chance to present our experience with the state of technology readiness, and a much-needed healthy dialogue with the industry.”
The event was attended by concerned professionals in the local ICT industry and business community as well as representatives from the trade and mainstream media. The CIO Year Ahead Summit was supported by Central Depository Company (CDC), Intel, Cisco, Ovex Technologies, CommTel Systems and Multinet with Dawn News as the media partner for the event.
