IT News Update – December 23, 2009
Intel Education Initiative Pakistan (IEIP) and Sindh Information Technology (IT) Department jointly organized an awards ceremony to celebrate and promote technological integration by the school management and teachers across the country. Ashar H. Zaidi, the country manager, Intel Pakistan said “Intel has trained 2,20,000 teachers for the promotion of technology-based education in the country.” Sindh Minister for Information Technology Raza Haroon, chief guest, appreciated the role of Intel Pakistan for imparting training and technology instruments at various government and private educational institutions and distributed awards among winners in the end.
Central Depository Company (CDC) has been certified with ISO 27001 standard, the highest information security management system (ISMS) certification in the world. After certification CDC is now amongst the top three companies in Pakistan to receive this award in the financial sector, says a press release. The CDC has received this certification for overall depository operations including functional, technical and legal aspects. This certification is a giant stride for CDC towards achieving operational excellence and maximizing customer trust and confidence in the Company’s infrastructure and security capabilities
ISPAK (Internet Service Providers Association of Pakistan) has voiced against PTCL while saying that landline giant is denying the rights of private ISPs (Internet Service Providers) to install broadband DSL connections to their customers using PTCL’s copper line network. Sources have told since PTCL wants to attracts maximum customers, it is delaying the connections of competitors. “We’ve approached PTA for immediate intervention but PTA’s response was bureaucratic” said Wahaj us Siraj, Spokesman of ISPAK. Therefore, ISPAK is now approaching Competition Commission of Pakistan to get the issue resolved and may also request to impose penalties for violating the Competition Ordinance, 2009.
Samsung has recently taken a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative in Pakistan, whereby it has technologically modernized & completely renovated the computer facilities in the SOS Children’s Village school at Dodhial in Hazara Division. SOS Children’s Villages is an NGO, active in the field of children’s rights, needs and concerns across 132 countries. Samsung chose to uplift this facility because, despite an extremely remote location, this facility provides its students with equal-rights, quality education and superior training. The Public Relations Manager of Samsung Electronics Pakistan, Ms. Rabiya Siddiqui said, “It is a pleasure to see these talented children get state-of-the-Art Computer education.”

ge the Power of Customer insight for Growth in Challenging Times.” He highlighted the issues related to CRM and what mechanisms should be used to influence the decision making power of consumers.
