by Haseeb Siddique Memon (HSM)

Editor’s Note: I met Haseeb at a recent All Pakistan Memon Federation event on Youth Leadership. When he wrote to me, I offered to publish his post if he wrote about what his learnings were from the event. Though I only met Haseeb for a short while, he seems to be a hardworker and mentioned that he had one dream: to become a journalist. Now this was one dream  we could help to make real.

HaseebMemonThis article explains the present situation of the world. Nobody remembers the past when they achieve success. How difficult it would have been to adjust at that time when people had no clothes to put on, they used to live in forests and the only way to produce fire would be by rubbing a piece of wood on another. Just imagine!

I find the world today in the 21st century an amazing one, considering what we have today. The human efforts have broken all the records. I elaborate my thoughts by categorizing them as follows.

What I heard: People only become successful by getting education. Technology has reduced the load of work. Business has become too formal and competitive. Very useful policies are found to remove vicious circle of poverty and unemployment. Social activities are implemented to strengthen unity as well as love amongst the people. Money has become the best motivation. The new technologies have allowed humans to create such weapons that may only take few seconds to win the war. Every possible care is being taken for the humanity. What an enthusiastic determination are found to clean corruption. Imprisonment is being made more dangerous so that people are de-motivated to commit crimes.

What I saw: How good people have become they are educated to only get jobs. They don’t want excellence they just want standard, a good job and a good house. They are forced and motivated to be respectful and formal in business society, not at home.

They have forgotten their parents, their elders, and their religion. What a good education they’ve got. They’ve forgotten when they’re eight their parents were supporting them by providing all amenities of life, but now look at them they’re eight now but they can’t support their parents. Old houses concept has become so popular in the developed countries what an education they’re being given. Social activities are only carried out to get famous and when they’ve gotten famous, they can be elected. Promises are made only to accomplish once own goals and when it has completed they forget the promise. There was a time when if any animals died, people were worried and keen-full to arrange their funeral and Today humans are killed, kidnapped and their dead bodies are found on the roads but nobody has feelings for them. What a selfish life we are spending? We’re hopeless, aimless and useless today!

What I Think: The education system must get incentive. The entry test system for MBA studies must also be conducted in schools. Their must be rules regarding families like we have about traffic, health and other professions. Proper rules must be there for every thing and everything must be conducted on the ground of justice. Corrupted people and corrupted policies should be cut out. There must be NGO’S to guide people, to guide humanity. People must be taught humanity and their objectives rather than just motivating and educating them for hefty jobs and careers. Expenses should be made according to the level of income whether it is on government level or social level. Competition should be induced to adopt excellence not standard.

We should take Japan as an example, remember how people grew up there? Manager in banks wore normal dresses to their offices which normally people put on in villages. The thing is not that they were miser, the thing is that they only made expenses what they could bear.
