PTA Report: complete depletion of IPv4 likely in 2014
A recently concluded report of IPv6 Monitory Group, formulated by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) in view of the future forecast and usage of IP (Internet Protocol), has estimated that complete depletion of IPv4 addresses would take place somewhere in mid 2014.
The PTA has formulated this group to determine estimated depletion timeline of IPv4 and suggest necessary Policy and Regulatory areas to promote IPv6 adoption. The report provides a detail insight of global IF addressing mechanism and statistics. It also presents brief benefits attached with this next generation version of IP (ie IPv6).
The report says that by the end of year 2009, 1.7 million lPv4 addresses were allocated to the Pakistani industry while eight IF service providers were assigned IPv6 address blocks by Asian-pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC). The report also envisions necessary role of the government and the regulator with regards to tPv6 transition mechanism inside the country.
Hybrid Technology can increase rice output to 8m tons
The hybrid technology can help increase rice production of the country from the current six million tons to eight million tons a year, which will help increase export earnings to $7.5 to 8 billion a year.
Shahzad Ali Malik, President Founder Group North Zone, stated this while speaking at a meeting attended by a large number of rice exporters from both the North and South zone of the Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP). Both factions in the Association announced to join hands to work for the organization and the exporters.
Samsung launches Massive 2TB HD Drives
Samsung Electronics Co Ltd announced the launching of the F3EG, its new high-performance environmentally friendly HDD (hard disk drive) for the desktop market. Steve Han, Managing Director Samsung Electronics-Pakistan said, “Storage-hungry multimedia professionals, gamers and home PC users continue to increase the amount of video, music, photo and other personal data they store and back-up”.
The F3EG delivers all the benefits of a low-power drive, yet features high performance and is environmentally friendly, he added. The EcoGreen F3EG features 2 Terra-Bites (TB) storage capacity, with 500 Giga-Bites (GB) per disk that is capable of storing up to 880 hours of DVD video or 500,000 or more songs in MP3 format.
Lahore to host Global Telecom Congress on April 24th
