blogawards-tnA lot of people have been writing in asking about the Blog Awards, whether they are even happening and why everything is taking so long. It’s blogs after all and bloggers are people who can be mobilized quickly… So what’s holding us back? So I thought I’d send out an update to settle all the doubts you might have..

Worry not!! The Blog Awards will be happening and we promise to give you plenty of time to make your travel plans and arrangements. As to why things are taking so long, here’s the justification on that. We’ve got almost 8,000 votes cast across all the entries. As announced earlier, we’re waiting for the number to cross the 10,000 milestone, and then we’re all set to go.

See… there is a difference between being “just a blogger” and being a “good blogger”. The good blogger is all about the long haul… keeping the traffic and interaction up over the long run. If you notice, the blogs that started doing really well as soon as they made it to the showcase, are also the blogs that have no traffic. No traffic means no new audience.. No new audience means that your content is experiencing stagnancy and isn’t appealing to a larger population… And why should it? With the number of blogs that are opening up online, there is more competition for traffic than ever before. And it’s THIS competition and sustainability that has to be reflected behind the Blog Awards..

Make sense? Sure it does.. I can see you nodding your heads as you read through these lines, so we’re glad that everyone is back on the same page..

The CIO Pakistan team will be in touch about the dates soon. Go ahead and hold your breath, but not for too long.. It’s not all that far off! ;-)

In my opinion , the idea to promote Pakistani blogs is commendable …no doubt it is a need of the time .In the present circumstances around the world ,we need to speak about Pakistani community ,our concerns ,our problems and ways to resolve the issues .Pakistani bloggers have to go a long way but it is good to see that there are people and organizations like CIO who are making a serious effort to create awareness about this and are playing their role effectively .
