bloggeroriginSince we had so many entries from so many countries globally, we thought we’d share exactly how vast the coverage area is.

Sizzle and Shine in the limelight Ye Blogger! Pakistan’s 1st Annual BlogAwards was an event that took place purely with an intent to celebrate and honor the enthusiasm of a blogger community that has been growing exponentially in the last few years and is still growing. Preceded by MeetUps, TweetUps, tweet-decks and many other hype-generating events, none of which can be found in the dictionary, seemed to be inline with a true USP that stands united!

The 1st Annual Pakistan Blog Awards and UnConference held in the Regent Plaza on the 28th of May was the essence of ethnocentrism that upheld Pakistan recognizing Pakistani  bloggers worldwide.

As obvious of the entries received that numbered 207, a majority of the entries were from Pakistan yet 13% of the entries were from various countries round the globe which probably would look like humming bees all over the globe in bits and pieces if mapped on Google Apps!

When broken down geographically, this is what the numbers indicated:

  • 87% of the entries came from Pakistan, with 43% from Karachi, 24% from Lahore, 3% from Rawalpindi and 2% from Sialkot, and 7% from Islamabad and  8% from other smaller localities including Attock, Bhakkar, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Hyderabad, Kharian, Multan, Quetta;
  • 5% of the entries came from Central and East Coast of United States;
  • The remaining 8% of the entries came from Middle East, Europe and the Far East including Abu Dhabi, Ashburn, Dubai, Fujairah, Ireland, Holland, Jeddah, Northampton, Germany, Zhengzhou amongst others.

The variety of entries received from outside Pakistan brought a confidence booster to the organizers of the BlogAwards as it exposed a commonality of passion shared by Pakistanis all-over the world that added a nationalistic aura to the event indicating a large Pakistani community that is proudly blogging from all corners of the world!

  2. Why there was no category for new blaagers? Everytime there is some meetup arranged all the time popular blaagers are called up? May i ask why?

  3. Rabia Garib says:

    Sure you can ask why… :-)

    You don’t ‘hear’ about new bloggers because they’re new.. There was no category for a “new Blogger” because there WERE a lot of new blogs that were competing in a lot of categories rather than being restricted to just one. We will, perhaps next year, introduce the most ‘promising new blog’, but these are all dependent on the suggestions we get back from the audience (physical and virtual)… So sure.. Please feel free to keep making suggestions.. we will certainly try and incorporate as much of the feedback as possible….
