Backpack For LSM On the 28th Of Oct!
As per one school of thought, a creatively independent state-of-mind gets the farthest in a professional circle.
In practice however, mapping the same to real-life working environment doesn’t oil well for most due to a lack of conformity to the same by a majority. This is so also due to the fact that an administrated business environment is much convenient for the majority following a 9-5 routine. Falling outside the clout, are a handful that are thought-leaders and thrive on creative independence as it serves the entrepreneur within them. Amongst the many that start-out businesses of their own, a few truly experience a luck streak and end-up fueling success stories.
What these know best, is where to make a start, and how to speed up the market adoption process. Trevor Owens, another outlier with an entrepreneurial gut, shrunk this gap by founding the world’s largest bootcamp on Lean Startup Methodologies, known as the Lean Startup Machine. The term lean startup was coined by Eric Ries, previous Advisor to Kleiner-Perkins and Entrepreneur in Residence at Harvard Business School ,who discovered the process through building his own company to $40M in revenue a year. His methodology is blend of agile development, Toyota’s lean principles, and Steve Blank’s Customer Development methodology.
These strategies are now used by major startups such as Dropbox, airbnb, KISSMetrics, as well as bigger companies such as SAP and Intuit, and even Facebook. In addition now days “lean startup” is wildly popular with Venture Capitalists and Angel Investors who see this methodology as a way to get traction and find success much quicker than ever before. Bringing together mentors to teach budding entrepreneurs strategies used by Groupon, hroku, turntable, Dropbox, zynga, and twitter to name a few, Lean Startup Machine (LSM) holds multiple sessions engaging the Entrepreneurs/Mentors with the participants in a variety of activities. Since its inception last year, LSM has held 7 events in San Franciso, New York and Boston rotating 75 start-ups! What many of the local entrepreneurs are looking forward to, is a homecoming of LSM this year.

LSM is a metrics-driven startup competition where teams learn to identify the key risks in their business model through hands-on mentorship and our framework of tools. It provides participants with a valuable framework of tools, techniques and resources designed to help early-stage companies identify key customers and iterate their products quickly. Startups face incredibly difficult odds, and the vast majority of them will fail. While lean startup methodologies are not a safeguard against failure, they do provide a foundation for real, measurable improvement. There are four upcoming ones in Europe.
“I participated at LSM Boston and it changed the way I looked at all startup ideas”, says Umair who won LSM Boston earlier in the year. “It was an intense weekend, but the learnings plus the connections were invaluable. I knew I had to bring this to Pakistan. Not only this would be immensely valuable to the young budding entrepreneurs here but it would be great opportunity for us to showcase the wonderful talent we have”.
“When Umair came to me late September and said that he wanted to do LSM in Pakistan, I was a bit hesitant at first. But then he showed me more about what was going on in Lahore and I was ready to book my ticket. The response for the event since then has been immense” says Trevor, Founder and CEO of LSM.
And now is your chance to join your fellow startup community members for Leans Startup Machine (#LSMPK) OCT 28th- OCT 30th in Lahore. For further details on the mentors and registrations please visit site.
