Consumer Expectations Surpass Retailer Realities

The latest Cross-Channel Commerce Report released by Oracle Retail analyzed the buying habits of more than 2000 consumers as they shopped online, via mobile phones and tablets. The report revealed that cross-channel shopping is a new trend whereby more than 50% consumers look for two or more channels before making a purchase decision. About 20% expect to redeem the same coupons and promotions in stores and online.  Consumers, especially the younger ones, now use mobiles as the all-in-one tool. Retailers are at stake when customers walk in expecting the same or better prices and promotion deals than what they found online. Customers also look for improvements in online shopping so that they may easily search and access any item that they are looking for. Social media websites are also playing a more pivotal role in online shopping making marketers promote their products and services here also. With technology becoming so popular, it is becoming mandatory for companies in Pakistan to go viral also and update the way their consumers can shop also.

 

Wateen announces winners of ‘Recharge and Reconnect’

Wateen Telecom has recently announced the winners of its ‘Recharge and Reconnect’ campaign in which it awarded subscribers who had recharged their account within a given period of time. The aim of the ‘Recharge and Reconnect’ campaign was to build a relationship between the company and its customers. To automatically qualify for the lucky draw, customers just needed to make sure that their broadband accounts were being recharged before the due date. The campaign was launched in October 2011 and its second lucky draw contest was held last week. A Sahiwal customer won a Hewlett Packard laptop, a Lahore customer won a Dell Streak tablet and a Karachi customer won an Apple iPad2 tablet.

 

Etihad Airways Sponsors Marathon in Aid of Local Charities in Pakistan

Islamabad Dasher’s first Annual Half Marathon was sponsored by Etihad Airways, Pakistan, where a total funding of Rs. 525,000 was raised. The money raised from the event will be utilized to build the Mashal School and Cancer Hospital in Lahore. The Marathon was a joint effort by the Canadian High Commission in Islamabad and the Islamabad Dashers. A lucky draw contest was also held as part of the Marathon whereby winners received two Etihad Airways’ tickets to UAE. On the occasion, Amer Khan, Etihad’s Country Manager, Pakistan said, “We are always on the lookout for ways and means by which we can help make a difference in the local community.”
